A visit to the forest at Baby's Forest School

A visit to the forest at Baby’s Forest School

A Forest School is “an inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning in a woodland environment” (source). Baby’s school is also inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to education…”The child is also viewed as being an active constructor of knowledge. Rather than being seen as the target of instruction, children are seen as having the active role of an apprentice. This role also extends to that of a researcher. Much of the instruction at Reggio Emilia schools takes place in the form of projects where they have opportunities to explore, observe, hypothesize, question, and discuss to clarify their understanding. Violet de Provence Artichoke Bloom

Violet de Provence Artichoke Bloom

It is not a perfect hourglass shape, but I think this was a black widow (pictured below). It was right next to the front door. We can’t have poison spider bites around here! If it is some kind of “false” black widow (since the shape on its back is not a true hourglass shape) I feel sorry to have killed it though.
