Red-Tailed Hawk

78 degrees in February!?!

So much sunshine!

And in the same week as this weather!!

Snow Boy

Not entirely sure what was going on here

Hanging out on the roof of my garden “office”

Cardinal

Woolly caterpillar

Presidents

Coneflower remnants with snow

And without!

I spy jets

And buds on the trees

Buds from the trees

Red-Tailed Hawk

Banana Plant; this should’ve been cut to the ground before winter but I’m thinking it will still grow back.

Garlic; needs to be separated; each of the stalks will grow a whole head of garlic if they have the space.

Rake-throwing

Sunset in the woods

Some valentines I made (and semi-heart shaped rocks collected)

Indoor gardening. Note the rose in the terra cotta pot…

Within 24 hours of being planted outside, new growth!

Kohlrabi and cabbage

Kohlrabi, cabbage, pansies, calendula, garlic and a bunch of other flowers planted here.
I ordered a ton of flower seeds from Baker Creek, along with some varieties of winter squash; more on all the different varieties soon!

Two plots down (raked/weeded/tilled) and nine to go!

Moss

Tulips

Front porch looking west toward the garden

And a few more hawk pictures that are blurry, but still kind of cool:

Red-tailed hawk

Through the trees

A different kind of hawk
There were five hawks flying and screeching overhead when I took these pictures.
Hope you all are soaking up these winter days, no matter the weather!

Your pictures are lovely, as always. It’s so weird that you had snow and really quite warm weather in only one week, how is that possible? Weather is never quite so capricious here sadly, at least not in winter :-)
I love your propagation plant futures image especially. It certainly looks like Spring is on it’s way (more like “there” to be honest!) I am looking forward to winter with joy this year. Can’t wait, especially for the cooler weather and hopefully some rain. It’s actually raining today so I shouldn’t complain. Your planting futures are sounding most interesting and it will be good to see how they all pan out over the coming growing season while I am holed up inside backing like crazy on Brunhilda ;)
Not so springy today; woke up this AM and it was like a winter wonderland; snow on every tree; a pure white world! By the afternoon quite mild and most of the snow was melted. But yes, spring (and autumn for you) is in the air. ;) Its good for winterphiles to keep up with the opposite hemisphere: I look forward to your cozy winter posts!
I look forward to posting them ;)
78 degrees and snow all in one week – yikes! And your trees are blossoming! Crazy weather we’re having this year. (Makes me worried about what the coming summer will bring.)
Love all the pics of life at SG. You have 11 garden plots? You remind me of myself in my younger days. Not so much energy in me for gardening to that degree these days. ;-)
Well last year I probably only tended to 3-5 of the 11 plots; haha! I’m hoping to plant lots of flowers and perennials this year so some of the beds are less maintenance. I’m not even going to grow any vegetables (other than whatever self sows) but I did buy several varieties of winter squash/pumpkins. Tomatoes are a lot of work (and free/dirt-cheap here in the summers); so I figured I could focus on flowers to try something new; I haven’t really grown many flower varieties so looking forward to trying a different focus for the garden this year!
Looking forward to seeing the results!
Lovely pictures. Gardens are looking good for February!
Thanks!!
