Lots and lots of rain here in St. Louis this past week!
Really looking forward to the next clear fall day to get some proper shots of the garden with good lighting. The marigolds have exploded and the backdrop of the changing leaves will be gorgeous when the sun comes out! For now, just a few soggy shots.
All of our garlic has been hanging in the breezeway by our back door (outside). I pull off heads as I need them for cooking. Leaving them outside hasn’t been a problem until now. They are a bit damp; as soon as it dries out I am going to get planting and save another bunch (indoors!) for use through the winter. Each garlic clove planed now will grow into a whole head of garlic by next spring/early summer. Garlic is one of the easiest things to grow and great for repelling pests in the garden.
Love how elegant Dexie looks on that leather armchair, EW to that skull with hair and Garlic repels just about everything…perfect for The Spy to practice with ;)
You can blame Dexie for the deer skull; she found it in the woods. She is all about the EWW factor ahha.
Are those all marigolds in that first photo? If so, that’s the most marigolds I’ve ever seen in one garden — really impressive! (What, you don’t like 8″ of rain a week or whatever it was?)
Happy to finally see the sun today!!! Yes, we have TONS of marigolds in the garden; I love how they take over this time of year. I have red, dark orange, light orange, harlequin striped and yellow!
Your marigolds provide some nice fall color. I love the landscape shot – nice! I also got a tip about planting garlic around tulip bulbs to deter rodents and deer from munching them. It’s good to have lots of rain before winter before the ground freezes, but that is still a ways off I hope!
