In theory this concept for the set of photos was a bit more groundbreaking. Hahaha

Spy Garden Rainy Day 2.1.14

A rainy day never bums out a gardener (water for the perennials, breaking down the soil, etc!) Colorful paintings to illustrate that though the sky may be gray, inspiration still abounds:

Baby did all the shapes and I just filled in the blank parts of the canvas with blue/purple.

And in other Saturday rainy day craft project news:

Made a green beret for Baby.

And Smoochie started making:

A bookcover

with old couch leather. The book covers are for a Bible (which is pretty old and the pages are in good shape, but the cover was ripped) and for Lonesome Dove (which the dog ate the cover). Both books are absolute staples that should be in every household! Stay tuned for the results. And I know at least one of my readers has experience in homemade leftover leather book covers (thanks for the idea, Road to Serendipity) so feel free to share insights/pictures of yours!

I am famous! (blush ;) ). I almost did a double take when I saw your first image… your grass looks almost the spitting image of our grass…dead! ;). Hope your book covering went well. I really enjoyed covering ours with a huge old leather jacket (still got some even though I have used it for other covering purposes) left and what is left at the end the dogs get to chew. No waste here ;) Except Earl “chewing” is what had me having to cover the book in the first place! Are Dexie and Earl related? ;)

hahah yes maybe they are related, is Earl one of Lucifer’s offspring? hahaha jk. The bookcovering is yet to be complete, probably postponed till next weekend. Smoochie had to make a whole new cover out of some very thin wood for the books (there was no COVER left to cover) so he is kind of working from scratch. We’ll see how they turn out.

Earl is fussier than Dexie…seems he only likes spines of books…covers are SO passe. He likes to nibble them so that you don’t realise he has vandalised your book till you pick it up and the whole darned thing falls apart in your hands and you look MOST accusingly at Earl and he looks back (innocent expression my derierre dog!) as if to say “Oh…you appear to have broken your book…how very careless of you stupid human!” ;).

thanks. I love all the different variations in our yard. I’m a big proponent of NON-uniform lawns! (the clover/little wildflowers are good for the bees!)

Really beautiful pictures. Nature’s colors are the best! And loved the painting! Want to see the bookcoversthe Spy made when I’m there next time.

Good to see pictures of bare earth with all its lovely textures. It’ll be a while yet for us, the ground hog always sees his shadow in New England, even on cloudy days!
