One degree Farenheit that is. Very windy and bitterly cold today. I don’t think I’ve ever felt -9 (the low) before. And who knows what the wind chill was. A good day of being freezing cold and toasty warm:

Cold Garden

I was too cold to take any proper good shots outside!

Blue Stripes

Ice on the windows

Looks like a painting

These ice crystals were on the INSIDE of the windows!

Not all the windows were frosted. Looking through another.

Through another window.

I rarely buy canned beans. Dried beans (black, pinto, kidney, northern, lentils, etc.) are so much cheaper and are easy to prepare. Basically you just boil them in water for awhile then add a bunch of spices/seasoning to them. Vegetable bouillion, salt, pepper, pinch of garam masala, a squeeze of ketchup, a squeeze of dijon, teaspoon of paprika, splash of soy sauce, some chopped garlic. Or some other combo of flavors/spices you like. Savory, hearty and delicious!

A little below zero temps can’t stop the Spy!

Heyyy! (the snow didn’t really get me, just looks that way in the shot!)

Smoochie, the Spy and his friend by the garden (and me far too cold to go down for a closer look!)

BFFs snuggled up together

The Spy and Aunt Spy

No idea who this is, too good of a disguise!

Cold all around the nation. We’ve “warmed” up to 14 today. I keep telling myself the good news is no mosquitoes, black flies or ticks ;-) That helps me embrace the cold!
Love your winter blue shadows and frost. I laughed so hard at the disguises – too much fun!
Looks like you found some good ways to weather the cold! I spent a good amount of time this week lost in overly-ambitious garden plans!
Most of my planning happens very gradually through the winter, in my head. I am not nearly as organized and meticulous as you! But I DO want to get the seeds going early (February) so figured to order them asap!!
We’re glad that the polar vortex will be outta here soon! Our backyard looks like the tundra! We reached the balmy high of 10 degrees yesterday (with wind chills in the negatives) and just might reach 20 degrees today (so warm!). The whole ice-on-the-INSIDE of the windows is really too much.
Its amazing how after a few days of below zero temps, 20 or 30 degrees DOES feel warm!
I think I would be retiring to the man cave for the foreseeable future if I was you! I am cold at 21C! I would need a hot water bottle under both arms just to look out the window at your place ;)
Yeah you definitely need to dress for it when it’s this cold!
A hot water bottle coat underneath plus sized clothes… winter sumo on Spy Garden ;)
I feel you! Today in Chicago the HIGH was -17 degrees with a -50 wind chill….
Brrrr!!!!
