I Spy a Five-Lined Skink

Five-Lined Skink

Adult females actually have brighter colors than males (for once the girl animal gets the better outfit!) Males have bright orange heads during mating season and we saw this one a few weeks ago, so I’m hoping this is his new girlfriend!

Usually they are way more shy than this but she was up for the photoshoot!

In some places, the beans are a good two feet or so from the teepee. I didn’t intentionally plant them so far away and sort of wish I had planted them closer, but they probably would’ve been disturbed/crushed during the “install” so it’s ok, they’ll get there!

Still need to weave twine around the upper half of the teepee (I ran out doing the bottom half).

We’ve been packing fallen sticks/branches into the fire pit for the past few weeks. Finally got rid of the giant pile, with one very tall fire. I spy some shapes in the flames:

We also spied a turkey taking a break:

I see this turkey in our yard almost every day but have yet to get a good/close-up picture (hard to sneak up on it!)
